I worked with Ari Weinzweig, founder of Zingerman’s and Charlie Frank, pastry chef at Zingerman's Candy Manufactory to develop new packaging and elevate the visual identity for their Zzang! bar. With this particular chocolate, they wanted to target a new, higher class market: that of gifts. They wanted a design that resembled more of a collector's item and had an elegant, expensive look and feel, while still fitting in with the rest of Zingerman’s products (which have a more illustrative, almost childlike visual identity). Portraying the story behind the Zingerman’s brand was an important consideration as well. I took all of this information into account when making careful aesthetic choices ranging from the form of the box to typographic selections and color combinations.
